I guess its a matter of taste. I admit that Elder Scrolls Morrowind had some problems. But combat has been updated so you dont have to pray for the behind the scenes dice rolls. If u strike a hit on screen u acutally will. I love the open endness

Altho My favorite part of guild wars and soon to be Oblivion is the option of havin a buisness. i love the idea of selling goods and runnin newbs.

I am getting Oblivion but all I got to say is it better include the construction set. I loved that thing. It got me into modding and scrippting to the point were now I made an entire campaign bigger than BloodMoon useing it. That was fun.

Actually in Morrowind at least, you could kill the main quest NPC's, and then it would say you have broken the threads of prophecy or something. (Why does every RPG have a prophecy? )

Anyway the one thing I hope they change is the music, Morrowind music was horrible, and I mean horrible.

I dunno. I think i'll wind up purchasing Oblivion if the magic system is updated to be a bit more useful than it was in morrowind. The way it was, you couldn't cast any half-decent spell (in comparison to what you could do with physical weaponry).

A single fireball with one second of burning damage should not burn all of my mp when I have my magic skills maxed out.

You know, I've been thinking of picking a copy up AFTER Battlefield 2. It looks simply beautifull with the dynamic light and new art design. Just hope you can mod it like Elder 3.

The elder scrolls series are the best offline rpg's ever made (imho) for the reasons of creating a character putting you in a world where it truly feels like you can do anything, explore where you want, feeling. Now there are other great rpg's out.

I really enjoyed morrowind but I admit I had heavey 3d party mods (3/4 where to enhance the graphics and sound effects or add new systems like crafting (Real Morrowind mod), logging, etc) and magic should regen (not like GW) but slowly over time, maybe get 1-2 more spells off during one battle and listen the hours spent sleeping.

I will be getting Oblivion, I've have played the games since Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind. Arena kinda dates me /my dos game days

I made a good magic mod. It just rebalenced the spell costs and made mana regen over time but pretty slowly (like 5 miniutes to get from empty to full). If you want it PM me and I will try to find the CD it's on and post it somewere for you to download.

Well, I loved Morrowind, so I'll be sure to nab myself a copy of Oblivion. For PC, of course.

Consoles! *Makes a cross with his fingers.*

I wan't to keen on no multiplayer but a friend gave me morrowind and I haven't looked back. Now you can by the game of the year edition for like 30 USD. Just try it beleive me it makes single player work so well.

Morrowind was the first elder scrolls game I managed to finish (thanks in part to that super powered ring of reg I added) but I think it was also my least favorite. Looked good, but I didn't like the story as much and whatnot. :| I think DF was my favorite even though I only got about halfway through it (only managed to finish the first main quest in arena). About halfway though MW, it seemed like I was playing it only to get it finished, not because I enjoyed it.

I think shamble had it right, TES games are a little too open ended (and also a bit too buggy).

I only finished Morrowind (the clean un-modded version) with 1 character (who stayed clean for expansions) and then I brought out the modding. (Then I fixed most of the bugs). The trick I used to not get bored when doing the main story was to not really concentrate on it and go and do other side quests or just explore or whatever. As for it being to open ended I liked how I could do pretty much anything but to each his own.

Morrowind was much larger than GW in every way. I enjoyed the play better too. It was completely non-linear and was much more replayable. It was different experience for every character type. I am looking forward to it.
